Cooking With Gabby

Cooking With Gabby will provide their EAT 4 Life program to children and families. This 4-week program will be delivered out of the Cooking With Gabby children and will tach children how to source and grow healthy along with the following: o Access o Meal Preparation, Interactive Cooking – Nutrition
o Entrepreneurship

What is your understanding of the issue that you are seeking to address?

Our understanding of the issue of food insecurity and access to basic needs is simply that we are working to help provide access to affordable and nutritious foods and at the same time educate children and families about nutrition and how to grow, cook and prepare the foods to expand health and longevity and minimize chronic health disparities like diabetes, obesity, poor nutrition and heart disease.

Describe the project, program, or initiative this grant will support to address the issue.

This program will give knowledge to those in low-income areas with a high prevalence for poor nutrition, obesity and other health dipartites knowledge of how to access healthy ingredients and prepare healthy meals in an effort to minimize food insecurity and create nourishing meals.

Describe how Los Angeles County will be different if your work is successful.

Los Angeles County will be different as Cooking With Gabby will not only help children and families who go through the program pass this on to each future generation, building a legacy of health and longevity for generations forward. While minimizing the development of health disparities through access to healthy food and teaching them how to select and prepare the foods with healthy organic/non-gmo ingredients.

What evidence do you have that this project, program, or initiative is or will be successful, and how will you define and measure success?

We will pilot this program in in the Cooking With Gabby kitchen. We will capture data and survey the students and families that participate.

Direct Impact: 150.0

Indirect Impact: 1,500.0
