Green Dot Public Schools is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Associate Director of Professional Growth to oversee the development and advancement of our team members across the organization. This role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing professional development opportunities, evaluation cycles, and career path frameworks for all staff within our organization, including teachers, paraprofessionals and central office staff. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of adult learning principles, and a passion for fostering a culture of continuous growth and development. Based in our downtown Los Angeles offices, this role reports to the Vice President of People.
Roles & responsibilities
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
-Design a Cohesive Performance Management System Across all Stakeholder Groups
Conduct a needs assessment among team members and managers to understand skills needed within each role, strengths, and skill gaps within and across employee groups;
-Conduct an assessment of current learning and professional development structures across the organization and across employee groups, codify these practices, and analyze structures to make recommendations for improvements;
-Research and design AI strategy to support employee development across departments;
-Develop personalized learning paths for employee groups and identify relevant training resources, workshops, seminars, and other learning opportunities based on performance trends;
-Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality and impactful learning experiences;
-Coordinate calibration among managers as needed to ensure consistent implementation of practices;
-Stay abreast of industry best practices and trends in professional development and talent management.
Use Performance Management Data to Inform and Influence Professional Learning Needs Across the Network:
-Establish and maintain evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness of professional development initiatives;
-Maintain and update the architecture of the evaluation platform, School Mint (Formerly Whetstone);
-Continuously evaluate and update programs and processes to incorporate emerging practices and technologies;
-Coordinate performance appraisal processes to provide constructive feedback and support individual growth;
-Analyze evaluation data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement
-Monitor and maintain contractual compliance with regard to coaching and evaluation
-Support negotiation strategy with Asociación De Maestros Unidos (AMU), Green Dot's teachers union, and Animo Classified Evaluation Association (ACEA), Green Dot’s classified union, to ensure alignment with the vision for professional growth.
Facilitate Career Path Planning:
-Work closely with Human Capital and Human Resources to develop clear career paths and progression opportunities for employees;
-Provide guidance and support to employees and their managers in setting career goals and creating actionable development plans;
-Monitor progress and adjust career paths as necessary to align with evolving organizational needs and individual aspirations.
Mentorship and Coaching:
-Cultivate a culture of mentorship and coaching is implemented with fidelity across the organization;
-Ensure employees are paired with appropriate mentors and coaches to support their professional growth and skill development;
-Provide training and resources to mentors and coaches to ensure effectiveness in their roles;
Support the codification of resources provided for intervention and improvement as part of the formal evaluation cycles.
Manage and Support Teacher Induction
-Coach and develop the Induction Coordinator, who reports to Associate Director of Professional Growth;
-Sit on the Green Dot Public Schools Induction Advisory Committee
-Support the management of the program.

> Experience in Professional Development: Direct experience designing, implementing, and evaluating professional development programs for educators and school system staff is highly valuable. This includes knowledge of adult learning theory and effective methods for supporting educator growth.

>Professional Development and Continuing Education: Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with research and trends in education is often expected.
>Vision and Innovation: The ability to think creatively, develop innovative solutions, and envision the future of professional growth in education is valuable for driving positive change within the district.
>Educational Background: A bachelor's degree is required. A master's degree in fields such as business administration, human resources, organizational psychology, or education administration or leadership is strongly preferred.
>Leadership Experience: At least 5 years of experience in leadership roles, such as a manager, supervisor, or team leader, is preferred. This demonstrates the ability to lead and manage performance management initiatives, as well as effectively supervise and develop staff.
>Technology Proficiency: Proficiency in using performance management software, Human Resources Information Systems, and other technology tools is beneficial. This includes the ability to effectively use technology to streamline processes, track performance data, and generate reports.
>Change Management Skills: The ability to lead and manage change related to performance management initiatives is important. This includes effectively communicating changes, addressing resistance, and facilitating the adoption of new processes and tools.
>Knowledge of Educational Theory and Practice: A strong understanding of current trends, research, and best practices in education is crucial.
