The Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law is seeking an Outreach Coordinator and Client Assistant (OC/CA) interested in working at a nonprofit social justice organization. Reporting to the Director of Client Services, the OC/CA will be responsible for implementing the Buhai Center’s community outreach initiatives and performing various tasks typically undertaken by Client Assistants.
Roles & responsibilities
Key Features of this Job:
Outreach Coordinator
• Build and maintain productive relationships with community partner organizations;
• Assist in the development, presentation, and dissemination of legal education outreach materials and programs;
• Travel to outreach sites throughout the County to engage with community partners, deliver educational programs, and conduct eligibility and screening services in neighborhood locations, at community colleges, and other sites.
Client Assistant
• Conduct client screening and intake utilizing online, in person, and telephone methods;
• Assisting other Client Assistants and Staff Attorneys in the performance of their duties on an as-needed basis.
Qualifications
Essential Job Qualifications:
• High School Diploma/GED, Associates (AA), or Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS);
• Oral fluency and proficiency in English, with the ability to write satisfactorily (required); oral and written fluency and proficiency in Spanish (preferred);
• Access to reliable transportation to outreach sites; valid CA driver’s license and proof of motor vehicle insurance;
• Availability to work some weekends;
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new electronic platforms, tools, and processes;
• Ability to ensure a confidential remote work environment as needed.
Start Date: ASAP
Position: Full-time, non-exempt, 37.5 hours/week
Salary and Benefits: $43,000 to $51,000 commensurate with experience. Benefits include: medical, dental, and vision insurance; voluntary employee retirement plan; paid vacation and holiday leave; professional development opportunities.
Location: Office in Los Angeles/Koreatown
