On Thursday, October 16 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM PT, Inner City Law Center will be hosting our bi-annual Skid Row Community Connect Day at our office parking lot. We are looking for community members to volunteer at the ICLC Skid Row Community Connect Day and have a variety of volunteer positions available.

  • Volunteer shifts are available before the event and also on the day of the event.
  • Volunteer shifts on the day of the event range from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Volunteers will be provided snacks, lunch, and parking will be validated.
  • Volunteers will be required to attend a 30-minute virtual training the week before the event.

Roles & responsibilities

Volunteer roles (before the event):

  • Community Outreach: Distribute flyers to individuals in the Skid Row community on Friday October 10 from 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM,Monday October 13 from 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM, and Wednesday October 15 from 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM
  • Closet Staging: Tag donated clothing with their correct sizes and stage clothing on racks on Wednesday, October 15 from 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM.

Volunteer roles for the day of the event (Thursday, October 16)

  • Event Set-Up: Set up tents, tables, chairs, and signage from 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM
  • Community Outreach: Distribute flyers to individuals in the Skid Row community and the Piñata District (Olympic Blvd. and Central Ave.) from 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM.
  • Registration: Hand out clipboards, pens, paperwork, and guide guests into the parking lot. Shifts are available from 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM and 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM.
  • Registration Attendant: Check-in with clients who are in line to get into the parking. See if they need assistance filling out their paperwork or if they have any questions. **For this role, bi-lingual Spanish speaking volunteers are preferred. Shifts are available from 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM and 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM.
  • Food Service: Help package food items and serve lunch for event attendees. Shifts are available from 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM and 12 PM - 2:30 PM.
  • Event Clean-Up: Take down tables, tents, and chairs, help reorganize items into storage closets. Dispose of trash. Shift is from 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM.

Qualifications

Must be 18+ years of age to volunteer.
