The Better Angels Short Term Eviction Prevention (STEP) Fund provides rapid, no-interest, non-punitive micro loans of up to $2,500 to low-income Angelenos facing imminent eviction. By bridging urgent financial gaps—such as temporary job loss, medical bills, or car repairs—the STEP Fund prevents homelessness before it starts. This fast, targeted intervention keeps individuals and families housed, stable, and connected to jobs, schools, and their communities.

As part of our mission to end the epidemic of homelessness in LA, Better Angels harnesses the power of world-class technology to help put people experiencing homelessness on the path back to housing. Caseworkers and service providers supporting LA’s homeless population currently have little access to tech, and the tools that do exist are often obsolete. We’re building an innovative, intuitive software platform that networks all stakeholders throughout LA County, allowing them to serve our unhoused neighbors more efficiently and effectively.
